Hypothesis: *11 students believed 4 narrow pillars would be stronger because there are more pillars *6 students believed 1 wide pillar would be stronger because it was spread out Both types of pillars were strong enough to hold a dictionary and an iPad. However, adding a tape dispenser made the mass too much for the single wide pillar and it gave out. Therefore, we learned that four narrow pillars spaced out are stronger than one wide pillar. Abby is now wondering if three medium-sized pillars could also hold the weight tested. Hugh wonders if two wide pillars would hold the weight. |
