One special part of the night was that student's guests could write a special note to their child on a cloud bulletin. Sometimes students need a reminder that their efforts are worth it and that the important people you didnt get a chance to write a special message to your child on our bulletin board, stop by our classrooms during the day for a cloud to write on.
What a great turn out to our celebration! Mrs. Creasy, Mrs. Leskow, Ms. Sherbinski and I are all so proud of our atudents and the learning they undertake. Thank you parents for taking the time to show interest in your child's education, their curiosity and the pride they have in themselves. Your interest and support pushes them to new heights and gives them added self confidence to take on daily challenges in school. Wow, what a December. Students participated in our annual Christmas Away From Home, Christmas card buddy activity. Students learned more about the composition of a letter and envelope in preparation for writing to Santa Claus. We had a Dress Like Christmas Day and made ornaments for special people in our lives, thanks to Mrs. K. Leskow and her mother for preparing the salt dough. Students then delivered their special ornaments during the Christmas Concert. We practiced all month to prepare for the Christmas Concert, singing "Somewhere in My Memory", "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", our sing along "The First Noel", and "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas". A few of our students are members of Mr.Horberger's Elementary Choir as well! Congratulations students on wonderful performances and thank you to families to attending this special night. We also sang a few songs for our guests who attended the Senior's Luncheon. Each homeroom participated in a door decorating contest, with the theme of Christmas Movies. We choose The Santa Clause. Students had a blast making themselves into Santa Claus, just like Tim Allen's character changes in the movie. They also wrote what Christmas means to them. On our last day before Christmas break, students wore comfy pajamas, watched the Holiday favorite Home Alone, listened to holiday stories written by the Grade 5-6s, had snacks, adventured around the school for a Holiday Fact Scavenger Hunt, and had a fun dance off in our cleared out room. They were pretty tuckered out. My gift to you, here are the awesome videos! Merry Christmas!
We were able to acquire tennis ball covers for our chair legs. These gadgets are awesome becuase they cut down on so much noise. Noise the chairs make when kids are fidgety or moving in and out of them.
Thank you to all parents! Thank you for helping your child get ready for Halloween. A special thank you to the Leggett, Krawchuk, Massie, Tondu, McAfee, Bergerud, Corkum and Hill families for pumpkins, carving tools, carving help and treats! Thank you as well to Ms. Mitchell for letting students read their scary stories to her students!
You were all here is spirit. Students wrote what they were thankful for on a pumpkin. We had to make a last minute change and eat picnic style but everyone was cheerful and social. Till next year!
