We were really lucky to have Nicole Kimball bring in some furs and some knowledge about the Fur Trade and the industry today! What a great way to extend our knowledge from the textbook. Students got the pass around various types of animal fur, like beaver, fox and muskrat, that are hunted today and share a past with the history of Canada. |
Students were then given the task of making some trades at a Trading Post, thinking like a settler and creating a kind of shopping list to get what they needed in the new territory.
