I will be on maternity leave for the 2017-2018 school year. I hope my peers and students have a wonderful year learning and growing as individuals. I am so excited to have a year with my newly expanded family. Thank you to everyone who has given words of wisdom, shared congratulations, and given gifts! See you all next year!!!
Wow, what a December. Students participated in our annual Christmas Away From Home, Christmas card buddy activity. Students learned more about the composition of a letter and envelope in preparation for writing to Santa Claus. We had a Dress Like Christmas Day and made ornaments for special people in our lives, thanks to Mrs. K. Leskow and her mother for preparing the salt dough. Students then delivered their special ornaments during the Christmas Concert. We practiced all month to prepare for the Christmas Concert, singing "Somewhere in My Memory", "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", our sing along "The First Noel", and "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas". A few of our students are members of Mr.Horberger's Elementary Choir as well! Congratulations students on wonderful performances and thank you to families to attending this special night. We also sang a few songs for our guests who attended the Senior's Luncheon. Each homeroom participated in a door decorating contest, with the theme of Christmas Movies. We choose The Santa Clause. Students had a blast making themselves into Santa Claus, just like Tim Allen's character changes in the movie. They also wrote what Christmas means to them. On our last day before Christmas break, students wore comfy pajamas, watched the Holiday favorite Home Alone, listened to holiday stories written by the Grade 5-6s, had snacks, adventured around the school for a Holiday Fact Scavenger Hunt, and had a fun dance off in our cleared out room. They were pretty tuckered out. My gift to you, here are the awesome videos! Merry Christmas!
