We read a beautifully written picture book called The Noisy Paintbox about the life of Kandinsky. It was the perfect beginning to his work as it made us realize how his art is seen through his eyes - as music. We then looked at one of his more famous pieces "Composition 8" and focused in on the elements of art we will be studying: line, shape, color, texture, value, space, and form. | This year students will learn about a famous artist each month. This month is Kandinsky! |
The first assignment - focus on the elements of line and shape to create a Kandinsky inspired piece of art in the Google Docs drawing program. They were also tasked with writing a reflection about their piece and thoughts they may have about Kandinsky's art.
