Students are learning about culture in Ukraine right now. They were introduced to their way of life during a field trip to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. They were fully immersed in making Pysanky, baking Paska and learning about their religious beliefs. Now they are revisiting that exciting day by learning about Irena's life through the Social Studies curriculum. Here you see two students designing their own Pysanka, using designs and symbols. Each design or symbol chosen is important as it holds particular meanings. To see more photos from our field trip, look in the Photos tab at the top of the website, click it and scroll down to that album on the Photos page. |

Excerpt from the Eagle Eye:
"The Edgerton School, initiated by the Grade 1 class, has decided to collect monetary donations to support the families of Fort McMurray. The Grade 1’s will set up a collection jar in the office and sell ice cream sandwiches for $2 all next week at lunch, with proceeds going to the Red Cross. Also, we will hold a special Charity Hat day next Thursday, May 12th for everyone to pay what-you-can to wear your hat for that day. The Government has just announced that they will match whatever is donated to the Red Cross, so we ask that you give what you can to help our neighbours to the North! We have also invited our community members to join in our $2 ice cream/collection jar initiative. Thanks for your support!" Grade 2-3 students have been asked to help advertise. They worked on creating an eye-catching tech poster to put up around the school. |
